Behind the Plate: The Story of the Garden Feast
At the heart of The Edible Garden is more than just a seasonal menu - It’s a celebration of the land, the flavour it offers, and the joy of gathering around a table. Meet Chef Nico Chef Nico brings fire, finesse, and fierce heart to the plate. Originally from Sardinia, Italy, and trained in leading kitchens across Italy, London, and France, Nico now leads the culinary vision at NeverEnding. With a background in fine dining and a passion for elemental, open-fire cooking, Nico’s food philosophy is rooted in storytelling. Every dish is guided by seasonality, inspired by native botanicals, and plated with deep intention. For this one-night-only experience, he’s crafted a seven-course tasting menu that honours the land - showcasing local produce at its peak through dishes that feel both familiar and surprising. Expect thoughtful textures. Unexpected pairings. And bold, nourishing flavours that linger. The Ingredients: Picked, Foraged, Celebrated The menu leans into garden-grown ingredients - some harvested just hours before service - layered with rich proteins, slow-cooked meats, and bold seasonal flavours. Think heirloom vegetables, edible flowers, wild herbs, native fruits, and bush honey - all paired with deeply satisfying, beautifully plated dishes that celebrate the land in every bite. Every course is paired with a curated wine from regional and international producers, handpicked to elevate the flavours without overpowering them. The Setting: Beneath the Stars, Among the Trees Mount Annan’s Australian Botanic Garden isn’t just the backdrop - it’s the soul of this event. Guests will dine under open skies, surrounded by towering trees, native blooms, and the gentle hum of evening birdsong. The long-table will be lit by warm candlelight, scattered among flowers, creating an atmosphere that’s both elevated and deeply grounding. This isn’t a white-tablecloth kind of dinner. An unforgettable evening at Taste of The Barossa
The long-anticipated return of NeverEnding Experience’s roving long-table restaurant was worth the wait, kicking off the 2024 dining series with Taste of The Barossa on 8th June – a four-course intimate dinner paired with magnificent Yalumba wines and set in one of Australia’s finest exclusive retreats, Kingsford Barossa. For one magical evening, 70 guests were granted exclusive access to dine in Kingsford’s majestic stone-clad Wine Tunnel, indulge in one-of-a-kind curations from top chef Jake Kellie, and delve into the collection hidden deep in its vaulted wine chambers. Jake Kellie, co-owner and executive chef of Arkhé, opened the evening with his signature open-flame theatre. As guests arrived in Kingsford’s stunning Peppertree Bar, greeted with Magnum glasses of Eden Valley Chardonnay and Barossa Vine Vale Grenache Blanc, Jake paired them with BBQ oyster, jerk chicken wing garum, and Mayura station intercostal skewer canapes. “The pre-dinner was fantastic, delicious food and wine and a great space to get to know the other guests,” says one lucky ticket holder. Stepping from the bar into Kingsford’s majestic stone-clad Wine Tunnel for a uniquely intimate three-course journey through the Barossa, diners had the rare privilege of sharing the table and conversation with growers and makers of the fine flavours filling their plates and glasses. A voyage impeccably led by Kellie, from the sumptuous hot roasted kingfish collar, gochujang miso, lime to Dairyman Pork belly, savoy cabbage, crispy bacon, pickled mustard seeds and charred macaroon, caramelized buckwheat ganache and Laphroaig salted caramel. “The ambiance was perfect, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel at ease,” says another guest. “The attention to detail was evident in every aspect.
